The 2024 ESPY Awards presented by Capital One are just around the corner, and sports fans everywhere can’t wait to cast their vote and decide who will be taking home top honors. From Best Athlete to Best Team, there are plenty of categories to look forward to.
Leading the charge in the women’s sports category is Caitlin Clark, who had an incredible final year at Iowa and has been nominated in three different categories. The Las Vegas Aces, winners of back-to-back WNBA Finals, have also been recognized with a nomination for Best Team, as well as individual nods for A’ja Wilson in Best Athlete in Women’s Sports and Best WNBA Player.
In the men’s sports category, previous winner Patrick Mahomes is back with nominations for Best Athlete in Men’s Sports and Best NFL Player. His team, the Kansas City Chiefs, is also up for consideration as Best Team alongside the Boston Celtics, who recently became NBA champions. Shohei Ohtani, leading the National League in batting average and home runs, is also a contender for Best Athlete in Men’s Sports and Best MLB Player.
