Paris St-Germain is set to sign England goalkeeper Mary Earps on a free transfer after she decided not to renew her contract with Manchester United. Earps, 31, had been in talks with United about extending her deal but has opted to move to PSG once her current contract expires this month.

Earps joined United from Wolfsburg in 2019 and signed an extension in February 2021 that would keep her with the club until June 2023, with the option for an additional year. However, it seems that she is now set to leave the club, especially since United will not be competing in the Champions League next season after finishing fifth in the Women’s Super League.

In the FA Cup final last month, Earps kept a clean sheet in United’s 4-0 win over Tottenham. Arsenal had made a world-record bid for Earps last September, highlighting her value as a goalkeeper. Earps was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2023 for her standout performance in England’s World Cup run to the final, where they were narrowly defeated by Spain.

Having also been part of England’s successful Euro 2022 campaign, Earps has proven herself as a reliable and talented goalkeeper on the international stage. Her move to PSG will provide her with a new challenge and the opportunity to compete at the top level of women’s football in France.
