Toulon has announced the signing of 28-year-old England flanker Lewis Ludlam on a three-year contract. The move was agreed earlier this year and was officially announced by Toulon on Monday.

Ludlam expressed his excitement about joining the prestigious club with a rich history and talented players after spending eight years at Northampton. His final appearance for the club was in their recent Premiership final triumph against Bath.

With the move to France, Ludlam will effectively end his England aspirations as current rules prevent players based with clubs abroad from being selected for the national team. England head coach Steve Borthwick is unable to select players in this situation, meaning Ludlam will no longer be able to represent his country on the international stage.
