A Winnebago County nonprofit organization, Marshmallow’s Hope, has recently received over $1.2 million in grants from the Community Mental Health Board for their core programming and Accelerator awards. This funding comes from Winnebago County’s 1/2 cent sales tax for mental health initiatives. With this grant, Marshmallow’s Hope will be able to establish a new Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) specifically for youth struggling with mental and emotional issues.

The IOP will provide a safe and nurturing space for young people to seek help and support in healing and thriving. The program will offer a holistic approach to mental wellness, combining mind-body-soul healing practices with evidence-based therapeutic interventions. The dedicated facility for the IOP will ensure that children receive the necessary support and options as their needs evolve.

Laura Kane, founder of Marshmallow’s Hope, expressed her gratitude for this grant, stating that it is a significant step towards expanding their services to address the critical mental health needs of adolescents in Winnebago County. “We are committed to creating a space where young people can find the resources and assistance they need to improve their mental health,” said Kane.
