Women-owned small businesses in the U.S. Virgin Islands will now have access to $30 million in grant funding from the Small Business Administration (SBA). This funding includes support for a new Women’s Business Center that will provide essential services to entrepreneurs in the region.
The SBA has announced that organizations that primarily offer virtual counseling and training services to women-owned small businesses are also eligible for these grants, along with traditional in-person centers. The grants will focus on four main areas: aiding women business owners in government contracting, offering entrepreneurial development services to women-owned small businesses specializing in child care services, providing general entrepreneurial development services to women in areas without existing centers, and supporting the opening of a new center in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This move by the SBA is crucial for ensuring that women entrepreneurs have access to the resources they need to succeed. Christina Hale, Assistant Administrator for the SBA’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership, highlighted the importance of these grants: “These grants play an essential role in helping women entrepreneurs gain access to necessary training and support for their small businesses.”
