ECU Health is set to host its 12th annual Mental Health Expo in Greenville, N.C. This year’s event aims to provide valuable resources, increase awareness about mental health and offer support for those in need. The expo will take place at Eastern AHEC on West Arlington Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

More than 40 exhibitors from service organizations will be present to answer questions and provide information about local resources, making it easy for attendees to connect with the help they need. This year’s expo is free for individuals, family members, caregivers, and providers, making it accessible to everyone in the community who may be struggling with mental health issues or substance abuse concerns.

During an interview on WITN News at Sunrise, ECU Health Behavioral Health Administrator Glenn Simpson emphasized the importance of Mental Health Awareness Month and discussed ways to improve mental health. He highlighted the significance of asking for help and suggested reaching out to trusted individuals or calling the national hotline 988, which directs calls to a call center in Pitt County, North Carolina.

The expo will feature presentations on various topics such as managing stress, understanding the nervous system to navigate traumas, and addressing addiction as a disease while combating the stigma around treatment. By attending this event, community members can gain valuable knowledge and insights into how to improve their own mental health and well-being as well as learn about available resources that can provide support during difficult times.

Overall, ECU Health hopes that this expo will promote overall well-being and mental health in the region by providing essential information and services that can make a real difference in people’s lives.
