Recently, COAST organized two successful health fairs aimed at serving the needs of older residents in the community. The first fair took place at the Madisonville Activity Center on May 31 and was attended by approximately 90 individuals. The second fair was held at the Slidell Activity Center on June 14 and attracted over 100 people.

Both events featured a diverse range of vendors specializing in various aspects of health and wellness. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in health screenings, receive massage therapy, access mental health support, gather community resource information, and engage in interactive fitness demonstrations. Chef Jeff Mattia from Pyre BBQ also showcased cooking demonstrations, highlighting the benefits of anti-inflammatory foods and providing healthy food samples for guests.

As a token of appreciation for their participation, attendees were entered into raffles for door prizes that promote healthy living, such as Instant Pots and Magic Bullet blenders. In addition to the raffles, everyone who attended received a COAST backpack filled with giveaways and informational materials. These events provided older adults with an opportunity to take charge of their health by acquiring valuable knowledge and establishing connections with local resources and community support.

We would like to express our gratitude to all who participated and contributed to the success of these health fairs. We invite you to keep an eye out for future events like this from COAST.
