The New York City Department of Small Business Services hosted the inaugural Small Business Month Expo, which attracted thousands of business owners from all boroughs. The event took place at Pier 36 in Lower Manhattan and offered valuable resources for attendees to connect with other businesses and grow their enterprises.

Commissioner Kevin Kim welcomed attendees, emphasizing the importance of small businesses in the city and highlighting the free government resources available to help them succeed. Mayor Eric Adams encouraged business owners to make the most of the opportunity to network and take advantage of these resources.

Over 9,000 New Yorkers registered to attend the expo, which featured over 150 free city programs that provided support with everything from permits and financing to legal advice and hiring. Attendees also had the chance to get updated headshots at no cost.

Business owners found the expo a valuable networking opportunity that provided unexpected but valuable information. Chanel Jenkins of Artist Pajama House shared how attending the expo helped her connect with potential clients and gain new insights into her business. Isseu Diouf Campbell of African Spot LLC spoke about how reconnecting with a client at the expo led to a new project for his company.

Andrea Young, CEO of Sweet Vegan, praised the event for providing exposure for her company beyond just selling chocolate. Despite being a one-day event, interested individuals can still access resources and information through the Department of Small Business Services website.

The Small Business Month Expo was an excellent opportunity for business owners in New York City to connect with each other, access valuable resources, and grow their enterprises.
