On Saturday, June 23rd, families gathered at Potter Park in Lansing, Michigan for the 3rd annual Family Mental Health Fun Day. The event was filled with fun activities for all ages, including decorating sleep masks and water bottles, listening to music, and reading books. Attendees also had access to resources to learn about mental health and start important conversations with their children.

Jenny Metzmaker, the Director of Positive Somebody, spoke about the importance of teaching children positive coping mechanisms for processing their feelings. Organizations like Child and Family Charities and Therapy Partners were on hand to provide information on different aspects of mental health and positive coping strategies. It was an eye-opening experience for many families, who were excited to learn new ways to approach mental health discussions with their kids.
