Recently, DP World Group, the operator of the multi-purpose terminal at Ain Sokhna Port in Egypt, welcomed young people and pioneers from the “New Generation” initiative under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. In collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, DP World organized a field tour for the youth to learn about operations inside the docks, import and export movements and the volume of trading within the port.

During their visit, the group met with DP World’s team to learn about its global presence, specific operations in Egypt and the strategic location of Sokhna Port as a major gateway for international trade with a market share exceeding 23% of total imports and exports in Egypt. The commercial team at DP World presented key business activities, trading volumes and efficient loading/unloading operations through equipment such as quay cranes.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World’s Board of Directors and CEO, expressed his gratitude to President El-Sisi for supporting the New Generation Initiative. He highlighted DP World’s investment in young people through training opportunities across various business units to support global logistics routes. Additionally, he emphasized DP World’s commitment to Egypt including investments in expanding and modernizing Ain Sokhna Port which provides job opportunities to local communities while developing new logistics areas to support economic growth. Through partnerships with government entities like Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFIZ), DP World aims to enhance economic growth and trade between Egypt and other countries such as UAE.

To further support young people from urban areas in pursuing higher education, DP World announced scholarships for top 10 outstanding students providing them with university sponsorships and training opportunities. In addition, they offer programs like “GROW” that supports new graduates as well as employments opportunities for over 2000 employees countrywide. These initiatives aim at empowering Egyptian youth while facilitating international trade through logistics services.
