Unai Emery has signed a new five-year contract with Aston Villa after leading the team to a successful season that saw them finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League. Emery, who took over in October 2022 when Villa was in a precarious position just above the relegation zone, has been credited with transforming the team’s fortunes.

In a statement on Villa’s website, Emery expressed his excitement about signing the new contract and taking on the responsibility of leading the club. He praised the support of co-owner Wes Edens and chairman Nassef Sawiris, highlighting the positive environment and ambitious project they have been working on together.

Chairman Sawiris also commented on the new deal, expressing his excitement about the future of the club under Emery’s leadership. He pointed to the special chemistry at Villa and the unwavering support of the fans as key factors in the team’s success.

Emery’s impressive track record includes four Europa League titles with Sevilla and Villarreal, as well as winning the Ligue 1 trophy with Paris Saint-Germain. After a stint with Arsenal, Emery took over at Villa and led them to a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League before securing Champions League qualification for the upcoming season. This marks Villa’s return to European competition after more than 40 years.
