Emerson, Lake and Palmer fans are in for a treat as the iconic 70s prog-rock band is set to reunite for a tour titled “Welcome Back My Friends: The Return of Emerson, Lake and Palmer.” The tour will make a stop at the Kent Stage on Monday, July 22.

The band’s singer, bassist, and guitarist Greg Lake, as well as keyboardist Keith Emerson, passed away in 2016. However, with “the full cooperation of the Estates of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake,” the trio will perform using giant video walls displaying Lake and Emerson performing live from a 1992 show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Drummer Carl Palmer will be joined on stage by two other musicians to bring back the classic rock sound that made Emerson, Lake and Palmer one of the most popular bands of their time.

The concept for “Welcome Back My Friends: The Return of Emerson, Lake and Palmer” was first developed by Palmer and his management in 2022. The tour was well-received by fans during its stop at Akron’s Goodyear Theater in 2022. For those who couldn’t make it to the show or want to relive the experience again, the band’s 1992 show at the Royal Albert Hall is also available as audio and DVD releases featuring fan favorites like “Still….You Turn Me On,” “Tarkus,” and “Paper Blood,” as well as arrangements of classical tunes by composers such as Sergei Prokofiev and a medley of popular tunes by American composers like Aaron Copeland, Leonard Bernstein, and Dave Brubeck.

Tickets for the show start at $55 and will be available for purchase on Friday, May 24 at kentstage.org. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to see one of rock history’s greatest bands return to life on stage!
