The European elections are fast approaching, and the lists are soon to be finalized. Secretary Schlein has outlined a unitary approach that will focus on unity rather than individual candidates, similar to what was seen in the regional elections. The final piece of the puzzle is the potential candidacy of Secretary Elly Schlein. The Democratic Party’s general staff has been advocating for her to run, believing that her presence could boost their success in the European Parliament elections. Additionally, there is a need to ensure the safety of candidates who have been waiting for their positions on the lists, as starting position can greatly impact their campaigns.

After a meeting at Nazarene, it was reported that all members of the Democratic Party secretariat have asked Elly Schlein to run in the European elections. Several options have been proposed, and Schlein will take time to consider before making a decision. In terms of potential candidates, names such as Emanuele Fiano, Giorgio Gori, and Pierfrancesco Maran are expected to run in the North West. The Center constituency is expected to be crowded with names like Nicola Zingaretti, Dario Nardella, and Camilla Laureti. Outside personalities such as Marco Tarquinio and Lucia Annunziata are also being considered for leadership positions in different constituencies.

The Democratic Party’s main focus is on confirming their growth over the past year and building an alternative to the current government’s policies. Top priorities include pushing for popular initiative law on minimum wage and addressing issues related to health care and ruling class. The party is also concerned about attacks on freedom of information and developments in Hungary and aims to bring together different party sensitivities to combat right-wing movement.
