Cedar LNG in Canada has recently received an order from Black & Veatch to supply the facility with electric-driven liquefaction technologies, including centrifugal pumps. The equipment includes four electric-driven main refrigeration compressors, two electric-driven boil-off gas compressors, and six centrifugal pumps. Cedar LNG will be powered by renewable electricity, making it one of the lowest carbon intensity LNG facilities globally.

The Cedar LNG project is a collaboration between the Haisla Nation and Pembina Pipeline Corporation to develop the Haisla Nation-led project. This project is a crucial component of the Haisla Nation’s economic and social development strategy, aiming to advance reconciliation by allowing the Haisla Nation to directly own and participate in a significant industrial development in its territory.

Ganesh Ramaswamy, executive vice president of Industrial & Energy Technology at Baker Hughes, expressed that this award marks a significant milestone for the company in the LNG market. He highlighted the strength of their portfolio and commitment to working with industry partners to provide efficient and lower carbon solutions for the natural gas market. Ramaswamy also emphasized the role of electrification in the energy transition, stating that it will be critical in reducing carbon emissions from natural gas in the coming years.
