The Vessev company has launched an electric ferry model called VS-9, equipped with hydrofoil technology. This 10-passenger commercial electric train is designed to be the most accessible, efficient, and environmentally friendly model created. The VS-9 is 8.95 meters long, weighs 3,629 kg, and has a cruise speed of 45 km/h with a range of 93 km on its battery pack.

The hydrofoil technology used in the VS-9 lifts the hull to one meter above the water surface at high speeds, providing passengers with a smooth gliding experience. This technology enables the vehicle to move efficiently and quickly while consuming significantly less fuel compared to traditional vessels powered by fossil fuels.

Eric Laakman, CEO of Vessev, emphasizes the importance of sustainable ships in the maritime industry and how hydrofoils contribute to promoting efficiency. The company has partnered with Fuller360, New Zealand’s largest ferry company, to introduce the world’s first luxury electric hydrofoil for travel. The VS-9 is designed to save up to 95% on fuel costs compared to conventional vessels and has significantly lower mechanical costs over its lifetime.

In addition to their ferry model, Vessev also produces a range of other electric vehicles showcasing their commitment to sustainable transportation solutions in the maritime industry. Their focus on efficiency and environmental friendliness sets them apart in a market dominated by traditional combustion-powered vessels.

Marinas provide charging infrastructure for the VS-9 making it easy for passengers to power up before embarking on their journey. With its ability to glide smoothly through rough sea conditions and bad weather at speeds of up to 55 km/h, this electric ferry model is truly a game changer in the maritime industry.
