The Ecobonus incentives for the purchase of electric cars were quickly depleted by Italians who seized the opportunity to replace their vehicles. The Ministry of Business and Made in Italy has now begun to verify the requests, with checks carried out on the 2024 Ecobonus incentives related to electric car purchases. According to the ministry, approximately 62% of the bookings were made by individuals through car dealers, while 38% were made by legal entities, including long-term rental companies.

However, the ministry also mentioned that around 40% of the booked vehicles will be scrapped by applicants. While potentially anomalous cases accounted for only around 5% of the bookings, this is considered a normal figure. The Ministry stated that they will proceed with dispute procedures after completing their checks.

Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti addressed the possibility of new incentives for electric cars, stating that more funds may become available but it is important to allocate them carefully. Giorgetti emphasized that funds are not limitless and must be used judiciously when deciding on new incentives.
