Egyptian President Abd al-Fattah el-Sisi and US President Joe Biden held a telephone conversation to discuss the situation in Gaza. During the call, Biden expressed his gratitude to el-Sisi for Egypt’s mediation efforts and both leaders agreed that the negotiation process needed to be accelerated in order to put an end to the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip.
El-Sisi and Biden also agreed to transfer humanitarian aid to Gaza through the Kerem Shalom checkpoint until the Rafah checkpoint, closed on the Palestinian side, resumes operations. This decision was made in an effort to provide much-needed assistance to the people in Gaza who are facing dire circumstances.
The leaders recognized the urgency of the situation and emphasized the need for swift action to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. By working together and coordinating efforts, they hoped to bring about a resolution that would alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza and pave the way for a lasting peace in the region.
