An Egyptian soldier was reported to have been killed in a recent firefight between Israeli troops and Cairo forces near the Rafah border crossing. The Israeli army confirmed the incident but mentioned that there were no casualties among the IDF soldiers involved in the shooting. The Israeli army issued a statement, acknowledging that a shooting had taken place on the border with Egypt, and an investigation into the matter was underway. They also stated that they were in communication with the Egyptian side to address the situation.

On the other hand, Egyptian military sources described the incident as an “unusual incident” that led to a clash between Egyptian and Israeli soldiers. They reported that Egyptian soldiers had fired at Israeli army members, resulting in no casualties. However, the Israeli forces retaliated with gunfire. Egypt has launched an urgent investigation into the matter, and all Israeli forces have since withdrawn from the area of the clashes at the Rafah border crossing on the Palestinian side.
