Ecuador has reached the quarterfinals of Copa América for the third time in a row, after going out in the group stage at six straight tournaments. This marks Mexico’s first time being eliminated in the group stage after opening with a win. Venezuela has won Group B as runners-up, making their second appearance ever in the quarterfinals.

Jamaica, on the other hand, is still without a point after nine games and is leading only 1-0 against Venezuela in all-time matchups. Salomón Rondón scored his 43rd international goal for Venezuela, leaving Mexico struggling to keep up with their pace.

The final game of Group B between Ecuador and Mexico was scoreless, with both teams failing to make any goals despite their best efforts. This was Mexico’s first failure to advance from the group stage since 2006 when they finished third in Group A. In contrast, Ecuador has been improving its performance at Copa América over the years, but it is still not enough to win this tournament.
