Bette Nash, a legendary flight attendant who served for nearly 70 years in the air, passed away at the age of 88. She began her career with Eastern Airlines, the predecessor of American Airlines, at the young age of 21 and worked on the shuttle flight between Washington DC and Boston. Although she initially planned to stay only a few years in the industry, she became a well-known face among frequent flyers along this route and ended up inspiring generations of flight attendants.

Despite not officially retiring from her position, Bette Nash continued to leave a lasting impression on those she served throughout her long career. The news of her passing was shared on X, formerly Twitter, by American Airlines, who expressed their grief over her loss and praised her achievement as being the Guinness World Record holder for the longest-serving flight attendant. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants, the union representing Nash, also expressed their sadness over her death and extended their condolences to her family and friends during this challenging time. They acknowledged her as an essential part of their history that will always be remembered.
