A lawsuit filed by Dyson Inc. has accused SharkNinja Inc. of stealing their patented cyclonic vacuum cleaner technology and should not be allowed to sell their copycat bagless vacuums in the US. Dyson claims that nearly a dozen models of SharkNinja’s cyclonic floor cleaners bear striking similarities to Dyson’s patented products, allowing SharkNinja to steal market share from Dyson.
The resemblance between SharkNinja’s products and their patented products is undeniable and not accidental, argues Dyson. They believe that SharkNinja intentionally copied their technology in order to compete with Dyson in the market for bagless vacuums. The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on May 24.
Dyson and its UK-based technology unit are seeking to block SharkNinja from selling their copycat vacuums in the US permanently. They believe that allowing SharkNinja to continue selling their products would harm Dyson’s business and undermine the value of their innovative technology.
