A measles case has been confirmed in a DuPage County resident, marking the county’s first case since 2009, according to health officials. The source of infection for this individual is currently unknown as they do not appear to be linked to the Chicago outbreak. The individual diagnosed with measles has received outpatient medical care and is currently recovering.

Several exposure locations in Chicago from April 2 to April 10 have been identified and can be found on the health officials’ website. Health officials advise that unvaccinated individuals or those who are unsure about their vaccination status and were at any of the exposure locations in Chicago may have been exposed to measles. It is recommended for those who are unsure about their vaccination status to review their immunization records or contact their healthcare provider to ensure they are up to date with vaccinations.

Individuals who have been vaccinated against measles are likely protected and are encouraged to monitor for symptoms over the next 21 days. For those who have been exposed and are unvaccinated, it is recommended to seek medical attention immediately. Guidelines for what to do next if you’ve been exposed and are unvaccinated can be found on Chicago’s measles dashboard.
