Bellevue High School student Kosha Upadhyay has been recognized as one of the five high school seniors in Washington to receive the 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars award. This prestigious honor recognizes students for their academic achievements and contributions to their communities. The American Heart Association recently announced Hana Hooper, a resident of Redmond, as the national winner of the Go Red for Women 2024 Woman of Impact initiative. Hooper is a 26-year-old heart transplant recipient and stroke survivor who was nominated by peer volunteers from across the nation. She is also an active volunteer with the American Heart Association.

Eighth-graders from BASIS Independent Bellevue achieved success by winning the Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl Competition. The team comprised of students Gordon Bu, Kathy Long, Kevin Ku, Timothy Wu, and David Xiao showcased their knowledge in math and science. The school continues to excel in academic competitions.

The city of Bellevue has partnered with 18 local groups to organize more than 30 cross-cultural events under the Cross-Cultural Center Without Walls program. These events aim to celebrate diversity and bring the community together. Bellevue residents can look forward to a variety of cultural experiences in the coming year.

Residents of Bellevue can now enjoy the newly opened Bridle Trails Valley Creek Park. The park offers recreational areas for toddlers and tweens, a picnic shelter, benches, paths, an open lawn area, and more amenities for families to enjoy outdoor activities. The park is a great addition to the city’s recreational spaces.
