Rebecca Adlington, the double Olympic gold medalist, believes that Adam Peaty’s return to the podium was unexpected due to his focus on peaking at the Olympics. However, she is confident in the quality of the British team and believes that there is enough talent to secure “a handful of medals” in Paris. In an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast, Adlington highlighted Peaty as being in a perfect position to achieve his goals and peak in the summer for the Olympics. She also emphasized that while Peaty is seen as the poster boy of the sport, there are other fantastic medallists on the team, including Matt Richards, Tom Dean, and Duncan Scott. Adlington believes that people are rooting for Peaty to succeed but also stressed that other swimmers deserve more credit for their achievements. She pointed out that without Peaty, other swimmers would be considered poster boys and that the British team is in great shape overall.
