Dongfeng Motor Corporation, one of the “big four” Chinese state-owned automakers, has recently partnered with Ubtech Robotics to integrate cutting-edge robotic technology into its manufacturing processes for vehicles. This collaboration will see Ubtech’s humanoid robots incorporated into Dongfeng’s production lines in China, marking a new era of next-generation mobility.

One of Dongfeng’s subsidiaries, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd., has been producing vehicles for over 50 years under various brand names. To enhance the production of its Chinese vehicles, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor has teamed up with Ubtech Robotics, a company founded in 2012 that offers a range of futuristic robots suitable for diverse tasks such as cleaning, delivering items, providing training, and offering companionship.

Dongfeng’s primary focus lies in utilizing Ubtech’s advanced humanoid robot called Walker S, which is already being employed in building electric vehicles for Chinese automakers like NIO. In a bid to optimize its production processes, Dongfeng has partnered with Ubtech Robotics to deploy industrial-grade humanoid robots on its assembly lines in China. These robots will perform tasks such as seat belt inspection, door lock testing, body quality checks, oil filling, and label applications. By integrating humanoid robots with traditional automated equipment, Dongfeng aims to handle complex manufacturing scenarios seamlessly without human intervention.

The Ubtech Walker S robots stand at 1.7 meters tall and are equipped with a “fusion control” algorithm for real-time communication with factory systems and data exchange. With 41 high-performance servo joints and advanced sensory capabilities, the robots can perceive their environment
