The Boston Celtics secured their league-leading 18th NBA title with a crushing victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Despite a valiant effort by Luka Dončić, who scored a team-high 28 points in the game, the Mavericks ultimately fell short with a final score of 106-88.

Despite facing injuries that affected his play, Dončić refused to make excuses and accepted responsibility for the outcome. Throughout the series, he put up a solid performance, particularly on the offensive end. He battled through his injuries and gave his all on the court, even when not at full health. After the loss, he emphasized that his physical condition was not an excuse for their defeat, stating, “It doesn’t matter if I was hurt, how much I was hurt. I was out there and tried to play but I didn’t do enough.”

The Mavericks had shown great potential throughout their journey to the Finals, defeating strong opponents such as the Clippers, Thunder, and Timberwolves. However, they faced tough competition in the Celtics, led by players like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who ultimately proved too much for them to overcome. Despite the disappointing conclusion to their season, Dončić and the Mavericks showcased their talent and fought hard to reach the championship series.
