The HPV vaccine Gardasil and Gardasil 9 were introduced to the market in 2006 and 2014, respectively, after undergoing extensive testing and receiving approval from the FDA in the United States. These vaccines are closely monitored for safety by regulatory agencies worldwide.

Numerous studies have shown that the HPV vaccine is safe and does not cause any long-term negative effects on health. It does not cause premature menopause, delay menstruation, affect children’s puberty process or cause infertility. In a study of 44,000 individuals in the US, both men and women did not experience more severe reactions than expected after receiving the HPV vaccine. Common side effects include pain, redness or swelling at the injection site, muscle pain, fever, headache or fatigue.

It is important to note that HPV vaccination is not recommended for pregnant women, individuals with allergies to vaccine components or those who have experienced severe allergic reactions after the first injection. However, people with acute illnesses and blood clotting disorders can still receive the vaccine as long as they are being treated stably.

The WHO recommends the HPV vaccine as a preventive measure against diseases caused by HPV such as genital warts and various types of cancer. The Gardasil 9 vaccine is effective in preventing over 90% of virus strains contained in the vaccine and is suitable for both men and women aged 9-45.

If you are already infected with HPV it is important to bring relevant documents to your doctor so they can prescribe the appropriate vaccination.
