Tampa, Florida: A City I Love

I have always considered myself a Floridian at heart. While growing up in Tampa, I didn’t fully appreciate the city’s charm. But after moving away and returning to visit, I realized just how much I love it. The city has a laid-back, carefree vibe that is completely different from what you get in Miami Beach or Fort Lauderdale.

One of the things that sets Tampa apart is its beaches. Siesta Key is the most popular in the area, with its soft white sand and warm water that feels like bathwater. The food scene in Tampa is also top-notch, especially when it comes to Cuban cuisine. The Columbia Restaurant is a local favorite, known for its old-school atmosphere and delicious dishes such as the original “1905” Salad and their famous Cuban black bean soup. On Swann is another great spot for contemporary American cuisine, with delicious cheeses and amazing starters like tuna crudo.

Tampa is also a huge sports town, with ride-or-die fans who love to cheer on their teams. Whether you’re watching the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game downtown or cheering on your favorite SEC college football team on Saturdays before heading to Raymond James Stadium on Sundays to watch the Buccaneers, you’ll feel right at home in this vibrant city. However, be warned: it gets hot in Florida during the summer and fall! So make sure to take advantage of all those beautiful beaches to cool off.
