At the 40th annual Science Olympiad National Tournament at Michigan State University, two teams from Monta Vista High School and Kennedy Middle School emerged as the top winners. Monta Vista’s team claimed victory for the first time, while Kennedy’s team celebrated a back-to-back win.

One of the high school seniors from Monta Vista, Ishanvi Kommula, was among the five students to receive a $10,000 Founders’ Scholarship from the Science Olympiad USA Foundation. The tournament brought together 120 middle school and high school teams from state-level competitions, with students competing in hands-on and lab events covering a wide range of topics such as engineering, physics, epidemiology, astronomy, chemistry, robotics, and coding.
