On April 11-12, severe storms, flooding, and landslides hit Kaua‘i, causing widespread destruction and damage to homes and businesses. In response to this disaster, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) declared a disaster for Kaua‘i on May 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM HST.

The SBA has set up a disaster loan outreach center in Kalāheo at the Kalāheo Neighborhood Center, located at 4480 Papalina Rd. The center will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to assist those affected by the disaster.

Residents of Kaua‘i who are homeowners or renters may qualify for disaster loans of up to $100,000 to repair or replace personal property that was damaged or lost in the storms, including vehicles. Homeowners may also be eligible for up to $500,000 to repair or replace their primary residences.
