The Big Ten Conference is home to some of the most successful and storied football programs in the country. However, determining which program is the third-best all-time can be a topic of debate.

Michigan and Ohio State are widely considered the top two programs in the conference, with no explanation needed for their success. But when it comes to finding the third-best program, things become more interesting.

Penn State, despite its rich football history, did not join the Big Ten until the early 1990s. This means that any achievements prior to that time do not count in this discussion. Similarly, Nebraska’s success came mostly as a member of the Big Eight and Big 12 conferences, so it may not be considered among the greatest Big Ten programs.

Schools like USC and Washington have accomplished much in other conferences but are not considered among the greatest Big Ten football programs due to their accomplishments in the Pac-12.

So, who is third-best all-time behind Michigan and Ohio State? Mark Rogers breaks it down at The Voice of College Football to help us determine this question once and for all.
