The Denver Broncos received several trade inquiries about wide receiver Courtland Sutton leading up to the draft, but ultimately decided not to trade him, according to ESPN. Among the teams that showed interest in Sutton were the Pittsburgh Steelers, who reached out to the Broncos both before and during the draft, as reported by Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey.

It’s no surprise that the Steelers expressed interest in Sutton given his successful connection with quarterback Russell Wilson last season when they combined for 10 touchdown passes in Denver. Additionally, Pittsburgh’s new wide receivers coach, Zach Azzanni, previously held the same role with the Broncos from 2018-2022.

Sutton is reportedly unhappy with his current contract and is seeking a salary increase of $2-$3 million per year. He chose to skip the voluntary part of Denver’s offseason program this spring. Despite his absence, the Broncos have shown no intention of trading Sutton, and the player has confirmed that he will report for mandatory minicamp next week.

With two years remaining on his contract, it seems likely that Sutton will remain with the Broncos. Bailey now reports that it is “very unlikely” that Denver will trade the talented wide receiver.
