Eyioma Uwazurike, a defensive lineman for the Denver Broncos, is facing potential reinstatement following a gambling suspension. However, the investigation into his actions has taken a turn with the Colorado Department of Revenue and Arapahoe County prosecutors considering criminal charges against him.

The investigation stems from an Iowa case that was dismissed due to the improper use of geolocation software against Uwazurike and others. The NFL is waiting for the conclusion of this process before making a decision on his reinstatement. Uwazurike will be eligible to apply for reinstatement on July 24.

Despite the ongoing investigation, there is still a possibility that Uwazurike could be reinstated to the team once the league makes a decision on his eligibility. His lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, who has represented numerous Broncos players in the past, stated that all charges were dismissed in Iowa due to illegal seizure of evidence, making it difficult for Colorado prosecutors to pursue a case against Uwazurike.

Uwazurike was selected by the Broncos in the fourth round of the 2022 draft and played one game with them before being suspended for gambling. It remains to be seen what outcome this investigation will have on his future with the team.
