Denmark’s men’s road cycling team for the Paris Olympics has been announced, with Jonas Vingegaard missing out on selection despite hopes of a comeback. The four riders chosen are Mads Pedersen, Mattias Skjelmose, Michael Mørkøv, and Mikkel Bjerg, with Bjerg securing the final spot.
Despite not being selected for the Olympic team, Vingegaard remains determined to make a comeback from his crash in April in time for this summer’s Tour de France. If he participates in the Tour, he will have the opportunity to aim for a third consecutive win, a feat achieved by notable cyclists like Chris Froome, Miguel Indurain, and Eddy Merckx.
Meanwhile, Tadej Pogacar is set to strive for history by becoming the first cyclist since 1998 to win both the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France in the same year. Pogacar’s performances in these two races have already earned him recognition as one of the best young riders in the world today.
