After community members expressed feelings of betrayal over the county’s proposal to use an existing building for a Long-Term Structured Residence (LTSR), officials defended the decision, stating that it would not have affected open space use or plans to create an extraordinary County park with numerous amenities.
Despite evaluating more than 25 locations for siting the facility, Delco Woods is no longer under consideration. Marple Township’s government rezoned the entire property as open space, prompting the county to file a lawsuit.
