Dearica Hamby has agreed to a contract extension with the Los Angeles Sparks that will keep her on the team through the 2025 season. Financial details of the extension were not disclosed, but the team announced it on Thursday.

Hamby, who has been in the league for 10 years, was selected sixth overall in the 2015 draft by the Aces franchise, then known as the Stars. She played eight seasons for the Aces before being traded to the Sparks in 2023, where she has been ever since.

In her first year with the Sparks, Hamby played through her pregnancy and gave birth to her son in March while still playing all 40 games for the team. She started in 19 of those games and averaged 8.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Despite this, she continued to improve and dedicate herself to her craft, earning All-Star honors twice and leading the WNBA in double-doubles and rebounds per game.

This season, Hamby has been even better than before, averaging an impressive 20 points, 3.8 assists, and 1.6 steals in just 12 games played so far.
