Data science is becoming increasingly popular among businesses as they look for ways to monitor trends and identify new customers. Lujia (Luke) Zhang, a Senior Data Scientist and Prototype Architect with Resultant, believes that data science can incorporate machine learning and artificial intelligence to benefit businesses.

After graduating from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Zhang has worked with organizations such as state and federal government agencies, using data from Google to track trends and enhance services. He thinks that data science involves gathering essential information and utilizing it to make informed decisions, likening it to revealing all cards in order to determine the best direction for a business to take.

Even small businesses can use data science to stand out among competitors. Zhang points out that some companies have leveraged data science during the COVID-19 pandemic to stay ahead by analyzing data showing an increase in the demand for hand sanitizer and related products. This allowed them to anticipate trends and boost sales.

Zhang, who immigrated to Indiana from China at the age of sixteen, loves the state and hopes that more local talent will remain there after graduation due to the many opportunities it offers. Recently, he was honored with the TechPoint Resilience Award at the annual MIRA awards for his contributions in the field of data science.

In conclusion, Lujia (Luke) Zhang’s expertise in data science has helped him become a valuable asset not only to his current employer but also other organizations that have collaborated with him in the past. With his passion for using technology
