Since last Wednesday, nearly 15,000 car dealerships in North America have been affected by a cybersecurity incident that disrupted their operations. CDK Global, the targeted software provider, announced that a small initial test group of car dealerships has been brought back online as of Wednesday. The company is currently working on bringing additional applications back online, such as its customer relationship management and service solutions, as well as its customer care channels.

During the system outage, dealerships were struggling with submitting their month-end financial reports. In response to this issue, CDK created a resource center to provide support for their sales and service efforts. Auto dealerships rely on CDK’s software for managing various aspects of their operations, from scheduling to records. The company began restoring its software on Saturday; however, the company stated that it doesn’t expect its systems to be fully operational before June 30.

This major setback has caused significant disruptions for dealerships during a busy car-buying season. As a result of the incident, many customers have had to postpone their purchases or switch to alternative dealerships. This has led to a loss of revenue for many dealerships and has caused frustration for both customers and employees alike. Despite these challenges, CDK Global is committed to resolving the issue and getting its systems back online as soon as possible.
