Recently, a minor fire occurred on the Icon of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, while it was docked in Mexico. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze that started in the crew area of the ship.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but its cause is still under investigation. Despite this incident, power was only lost briefly as backup systems kicked in right away and main power was restored. The spokesperson for Royal Caribbean announced that the vessel will continue on its journey as planned and head to Cozumel, Mexico on Wednesday according to CruiseMapper.

The Icon of the Seas is a massive cruise ship that first set sail from Miami in January. It spans 1,200 feet long and can accommodate up to 5,610 passengers across its 20 decks. The ship is operated by 2,350 crew members and features seven pools, including the largest pool at sea, a water park at sea with six waterslides and nine whirlpools. In addition to water activities, it offers a rock climbing wall, Royal Caribbean’s first food hall, a beach-themed carousel, an arcade and mini-golf course.
