The unemployment rate in the eurozone slightly decreased in April, with Croatia also following the trend and remaining below the average in the area of application of the common European currency, according to Eurostat’s report. In the 20-member eurozone, the unemployment rate measured by the International Labor Organization (ILO) methodology was 6.4 percent in April, which was 0.1 percentage point lower than in March and the previous year.
In the EU, however, the unemployment rate was six percent and stayed the same as in March and April of the previous year. Eurostat estimates that almost 13.2 million citizens were unemployed in the EU in April, with almost 11 million of them in the eurozone. The number of unemployed decreased by 100 thousand in the eurozone and 103 thousand in the EU on a monthly basis.
