The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 has kicked off in the United States with an historic opening match between USA and Canada at Grand Prairie Stadium. This is the first time that the United States is co-hosting an ICC World Cup event, bringing cricket to new audiences across the country.
In anticipation of the opening match, cricket was showcased in a unique way in America. A lighting projection show featuring all 20 captains of the tournament was displayed on the Rockefeller Centre Building in New York City, generating excitement for the event. In a special collaboration with the NBA Finals Series, Bangladesh and India captains Rohit Sharma and Najmul Shanto had the opportunity to hold the iconic Larry O’Brien Trophy at Nassau County International Stadium, where a warm-up fixture is set to take place ahead of the tournament.
