Crewe striker Chris Long has agreed to a new one-year deal with the League Two club, following a successful season in which he scored nine goals and helped the team reach the play-off final at Wembley. The 29-year-old, who previously played for Burnley and Blackpool, joined Crewe from Motherwell in July 2021.

Long’s impressive performances on the field have earned him recognition at the national level as well, having represented England at Under-20 level. To date, he has scored a total of 22 goals in 69 league appearances for Crewe.

Following their play-off final loss, Crewe offered new contracts to five players, including defenders Rio Adebisi and Luke Offord, as well as striker Courtney Baker-Richardson. However, leading goal scorer Elliott Nevitt opted to join Gillingham instead of staying with Crewe for the upcoming season. Despite this departure, Long remains committed to his role with the team and is looking forward to continuing his progress at Gresty Road.
