Kansas is home to a growing aging population, and it’s time to take action to ensure that they receive the support they need. That’s why we are excited to announce a virtual Zoom event on July 10 from 1-2 p.m. focused on creating an age-friendly Kansas. This fully virtual event will launch the Age-Friendly Kansas initiative, which aims to improve the health, well-being, independence, and quality of life of Kansans as they age.

Public health professionals play a crucial role in maintaining and improving the health of Kansans as they age. During this event, participants will be introduced to the Age-Friendly Public Health Systems Initiative and learn about the Age-Friendly Advisory Committee. The committee will assist in informing and developing the Age-Friendly Kansas Action Plan, which aims to embed healthy aging practices and age-friendly principles throughout Kansas communities and public health systems.

The event will feature a presentation by Megan Wolfe, J.D., Senior Policy Development Manager at Trust for America’s Health (TFAH). A panel discussion with state partners, including representatives from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and Kansas Department for Children and Families, will also take place. Additionally, there will be a group discussion with panel participants and audience members to envision a multi-sector age-friendly ecosystem for Kansas.

This event provides an opportunity for attendees to contribute to the discussion and help shape the future of healthy aging in Kansas. Don’t miss out on this important opportunity – join us on July 10 for this virtual event focused on creating an age-friendly Kansas!
