Chelsea is looking to add more competition for their current number nine striker, Nicolas Jackson, and they have put together a list of potential signings for the upcoming season. Among the options they are considering is former academy player Dominic Solanke.

Solanke had a standout season at Bournemouth in 2023-24, scoring 21 goals in all competitions. This was a significant improvement for Solanke, who had previously struggled to establish himself at the Premier League level. Reports have indicated that Chelsea has renewed their interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, but they are also considering bringing back Solanke.

Solanke came through Chelsea’s academy ranks but failed to earn regular opportunities at the club before moving to Liverpool in 2017. Since then, he has scored 77 goals in 216 appearances for Bournemouth, with the 2023-24 season being his most prolific in the Premier League. Chelsea may make a bid to re-sign Solanke, but Bournemouth is reportedly demanding a fee around £65m for his services.

Other Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham are also linked with a potential move for Solanke. It remains to be seen if Chelsea will make a move to bring back their former academy player, as they continue to search for options to strengthen their attacking lineup this summer.
