Ruaridh Dawson, the 26-year-old Cornish Pirates scrum-half, has announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season. Dawson first joined the club in 2019 and has made 65 appearances in two separate spells. He is known for his athleticism, good service, and fine kicking game.

This news comes after another scrum-half, Alex Schwarz, also announced his departure from the club earlier this week. However, there is some good news for Pirates fans as Exeter hooker Harry Hocking has agreed to join permanently next season after spending time on dual-registration this year.

Fly-halves Bruce Houston and Joe Elderkin have also signed deals for next season, as has forward Alex Everett. Joint-head coach Gavin Cattle praised Dawson’s contributions to the team and thanked him for being a valuable member of the squad. He said that Dawson had bought into the Pirates ethos and had made significant contributions during his time at the club.

Despite these departures, the club continues to secure new deals with several players, including captain John Stevens and winger Robin Wedlake, who have both agreed to stay on for another season.
