The Portage County Health District recently hosted an open house at its Ravenna building, inviting residents to take advantage of health screenings, learn about district programs, and explore community services. Public Information Officer Becky Lehman emphasized the importance of community outreach, connecting people with the resources they need. This event marked the second time since the district moved into the building in August 2022.

The main level of the building featured various health screenings, while the upper level housed the United Way and educational stations. More than 20 community partners offered resources for underserved individuals downstairs. Lehman encouraged residents with septic systems to explore grants for system replacement or connection to existing sewer lines.

Outside the building, food trucks provided a variety of options including tacos, elephant ears, and coffee. The Akron Canton Regional Foodbank hosted a monthly pop-up food pantry behind the building, further supporting the community with essential resources. The event was a successful showcase of the district’s commitment to accessible healthcare and community well-being.
