The community of Maryville, Tennessee is coming together to support the family of Deputy Greg McCowan, who tragically passed away. Pokey’s and Sports, a business located in downtown Maryville, has taken initiative to help the family by selling tribute shirts for $20 each.

Julie Nelson expressed that everyone wanted to do something to help and buying a shirt was something everyone could do. “We wanted to find a way to give back to the McCowan family,” she said. “And buying a shirt was something that everyone could afford and do.”

All proceeds from the shirt sales will go directly to the McCowan family. The response has been overwhelming, with over 500 shirts made already. The local community has shown tremendous support, with many ordering shirts to show their condolences and support for the family during this difficult time.

John Lindboe, part of the management at Pokey’s and Sports, shared that many of the people affected by the tragedy were known to the community. This personal connection has motivated many to contribute to the cause by purchasing tribute shirts. “We knew that Deputy McCowan was well-respected in this community,” he said. “So we wanted to do our part by helping his family.”

As orders continue to come in, Pokey’s and Sports has committed to printing and selling shirts for as long as there is demand. For those unable to visit the store, online orders and in-store pickups are available for convenience. The outpouring of support from the community is a testament to the impact Deputy McCowan had on the people he served.
