Wood has partnered with Juno, a Georgia-Pacific company, to implement its innovative waste recovery solution. Through this collaboration, Juno Technology can divert up to 90% of municipal waste away from landfills and repurpose them into valuable recycled materials.

Under a framework agreement, Wood will provide full engineering services, including FEED and detailed Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCm), to support Juno in establishing new waste processing facilities globally. Additionally, Wood will assist in the maintenance operations of these facilities once they are operational.

Giuseppe Zuccaro, President of Process & Chemicals at Wood, stated that combining Wood’s engineering expertise with Juno’s technology presents an exciting opportunity to help clients achieve a circular economy solution. By reducing landfill waste and reintroducing recycled materials back into the economy for reuse, this project aligns with Wood’s strategic priority of creating a more sustainable future.

Juno Technology employs a specialized process to recycle materials from waste streams that would typically end up in landfills or incinerators. Through this process, waste is sanitized and materials like paper fibres, plastics, and metals are recovered for reuse while food waste can be converted into reusable biogas.

Christer Henriksson, President of Juno, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Wood to expand the reach of Juno Technology and develop projects in North America, Europe, UK and Australia. This technology has the potential to divert up to 90% of Municipal Solid Waste away from landfills which helps cities and communities achieve their sustainability objectives.

The FEED process for Juno’s first full commercial waste processing facility in the UK is currently underway marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between Wood and Juno to bring sustainable waste management solutions to various regions globally.
