Colchester United has added two more players to their squad, bringing their total summer signings to four. The club signed defender Ben Goodliffe and striker John-Kymani Gordon in a span of just thirty minutes.
Goodliffe, 25, leaves Sutton United after five seasons with the club, where he was part of the team that won promotion to the Football League in 2021. He has joined Colchester on a two-year deal, and Cowley is excited about his addition to the team. “Ben is a fantastic player,” he said. “He has a great love for the game and is always looking to improve.” Goodliffe will bring a lot of experience and leadership skills to the backline, which will be crucial for Colchester’s success next season.
Gordon, 21, also joins Colchester on a two-year deal after leaving Premier League club Crystal Palace. Cowley spoke highly of Gordon’s pace, ability to carry the ball, and end product. “John-Kymani is an exciting addition to our team,” he said. “He brings athleticism and an edge that will benefit us on both ends of the field.” Gordon’s loan spell at Carlisle when they won promotion from League Two in 2023 showcased his potential as a talented young player, and Cowley believes he has bright future ahead of him at Colchester United.
