On Sunday, the Coronado coastline was closed to the public due to high levels of bacteria in the water. However, on Tuesday, the county Department of Environmental Health and Quality announced that improved water quality samples had been taken, and the beach was reopened for swimming and other water activities.

Meanwhile, other coastlines remained closed due to bacterial contamination. The Tijuana Slough, Imperial Beach, and Silver Strand from the International Border to south of Avenida Lunar were all shut down as authorities advised the public to avoid water contact in these areas. There is a risk of illness if sewage contamination is ingested or comes into contact with skin or eyes.

In addition to the closures, advisories were also issued for two popular swimming spots: La Jolla Children’s Pool and Ocean Beach’s dog beach. These advisories warned of potential health risks from water contamination and advised against swimming or wading in these locations until further notice.
